Hamish Hamilton to Direct Ground Breaking Concert

ACADEMY AWARD, SUPERBOWL HALFTIME, MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARD DIRECTOR NAMED FOR APRIL 17TH ‘SHOW OF PEACE CONCERT’ IN BEIJING

DONE AND DUSTED’S HAMISH HAMILTON TO DIRECT GROUNDBREAKING CONCERT TO PROMOTE WORLD PEACE AND GREEN HARMONY

He’s directed some of the planet’s most prestigious and groundbreaking entertainment events including concert specials for the likes of U2, Madonna, The Rolling Stones and Justin Timberlake, as well as global broadcasts for The Academy Awards, The SuperBowl Halftime Show and the MTV Video Music Awards.  And now, organizers of what is being billed as the ‘biggest concert event ever,’ have put director Hamish Hamilton at the helm.

‘The Show of Peace Concert’ will take place in Beijing on April 17th, 2010 in front of the Bird’s Nest Stadium.  Details of the event, designed to promote world peace and green harmony, will be unveiled in Beijing on January 13th at a press conference that will have the legendary Led Zeppelin lead guitarist Jimmy Page, as well as other ‘Show of Peace’ supporters.

Garson has spent the last ten years planning an International Peace Concert with the support of World Leaders such as the United Nations and the Vatican, and was inspired by the public response to the Copenhagen Climate Change summit to confirm the global concert and live television special on April 17 – the week of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day.

The Chinese Host Organization, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, as well as China-based non-profit Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy (JUCCCE), UN NGO Pathways to Peace and Cultures of Peace Initiative, and the Captain Planet Foundation are partnering with Garson to create a global communication and support network to help drive world change. Funds raised through the concert and campaign will go to support peace and green initiatives around the world.

“Peace and the environment are totally connected – one cannot happen without the other,” said Garson, who has been back and forth to China since the Olympics. “After The Show of Peace Concert in April, we will produce a sequence of other events during the following year. The Show of Peace campaign will give the public the opportunity to show their passion for these vital causes, and will keep reminding politicians around the world about the public hunger for change.”

In addition to Hamilton, Garson has put together “a dream team” of international music and television industry professionals to create ‘The Show of Peace Concert’, including manager and producer Trudy Green (Aerosmith, Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger), and producer Greg Sills (Live 8, Live Earth, and Billboard Music Awards).

Jimmy Page is planning on performing loads of new solo material during a 2010 tour. The legendary guitarist told Sky News that he's been hoping to put forth his music since his former band Led Zeppelin reunited for a one-off show at London's O2 arena two years ago -- and Zep singer Robert Plant nixed the idea of a full reunion tour.

"We're running up to Christmas now and next year I have every intention of playing music live and manifesting it," Page said. "I've got the music waiting, and that's what i'll be doing. It's been two years since the O2, so it's time to do that."

A representative for the Show of Peace concert event, to be held in Beijing, China on April 17, confirmed too that Jimmy Page will be performing. No other artists have been confirmed yet, though Billboard is reporting that other artists like Black Eyed Peas, Prince, Green Day and Beyonce have been "invited."

Show of Peace is a 30th anniversary celebration of a cultural agreement between the U.S. and China, plus a environmental awareness event.

An array of artists, including Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, will take part in the first annual Show Of Peace Concert, a globally televised event that will take place April 17 before an expected crowd of 100,000 at the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing, China.

More performers and other details will be announced at a Jan. 13 press conference in Beijing. The concert's official web site lists nearly five dozen target artists to be invited, including Prince, Green Day, Beyonce, Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, Kenny Chesney, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake and many others.

The concert, which marks the 30th anniversary of the cultural exchange agreement between the United States and China, is billed in a statement as "a 'peace is green' awareness campaign designed to not only promote peace with each other but to promote peace with our planet." It's the brainchild of television and music producer Rick Garson, whose Las Vegas-based ZZYX Entertainment company is producing the show. Garson's co-producers include Live 8 and Live Earth principal Greg Sills and artists manager Trudy Green (Michael and Janet Jackson, Mick Jagger, Aerosmith). Other organizations involved in the concert include the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy, the United Nations' Pathways of Peace and the Captain Planet Foundation."

Garson is establishing the A Show Of Peace Foundation, whose board of directors will include environmental and peace-building experts. The foundation will distribute funds raised from the concert and other activities to organizations and initiatives. In a statement Garson said that "the passion and attitude of the Chinese people and the potential of this country made me realize that this was the right place to stage an event, as we watch the transformation of Red China to 'Green' China right before our eyes."

The concert's web site, showofpeace.com, will carry regular updates about the event.

Jan 13 Press Conference Beijing

CHINESE PEOPLE’S ASSOCIATION FOR FRIENDSHIP WITH FOREIGN COUNTRIES ALONG WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE CHINESE MINISTRY OF CULTURE ANNOUNCES PLANS TO HOST GLOBAL “SHOW OF PEACE” CONCERT AND WORLDWIDE TELEVISION SPECIAL TO PROMOTE PEACE IS GREEN INTIATIVES

January Press Conference Slated For “Show Of Peace” Concert To Be Held April 17th In Beijing

17 Dec 2009 - A global press conference is scheduled to take place this January in Beijing, to announce the first annual “Show Of Peace” Concert,” an unprecedented event to be held in China on April 17th, 2010. Some of the biggest international names in music and film will be named as performers and participants, for what the concert’s producers are calling ‘a peace is green awareness campaign designed to not only promote peace with each other, but to promote peace with our planet.' It’s especially appropriate that this concert falls upon the 30th Anniversary of the cultural exchange between the United States and China – as it utilizes the universal language of music to convey the need for a more peaceful and greener planet.

The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the earliest and most influential NGO for civil and urban diplomacy and international culture exchange areas after the founding of New China, China-based non-profit Joint-US China Collaboration on Clean Energy (JUCCCE), the United Nations’ NGO Pathways to Peace, and the Captain Planet Foundation have all joined forces with US television and music producer Rick Garson, President and CEO ZZYX Entertainment.

In a statement The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship and Foreign Countries said; “We are honored to be the host of such an amazing event. It’s a pleasure to co-operate with ZZYX Entertainment because of their creativity and their commitment to social causes. This concert will bring to light the need for all of us on this planet to not only commit to peace, but to commit to our environment – two of the most important issues facing the world today. We believe that it will bring new vigor and vitality to the Chinese people and to other citizens of the world.”

Garson, who conceived of the idea for this concert nearly three years ago, has mobilized a team of committed and passionate leaders in the entertainment industry including the show’s co-executive producer, personal manager Trudy Green (Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, Janet Jackson, Aerosmith, etc.) and producer Greg Sills (Live8 and Live Earth) among others. He will establish “A Show of Peace Foundation” to distribute funds raised through the concert and other related efforts. The Foundation’s board will include respected experts from the fields of peace building and green initiatives.

Said Rick Garson, “The passion and attitude of the Chinese people and the potential of this country, made me realize that this was the right place to stage an event, as we watch the transformation of Red China to “Green” China right before our eyes.”

Participants in the event, along with its creative team, Green Committee, executives from the participating partner organizations, Chinese and foreign government officials, will all be on hand at the announcement, which is slated to take place in Beijing.

Specific details of the press conference will be released after the New Year.
