PLANS TO HOST GLOBAL “SHOW OF PEACE” CONCERT AND WORLDWIDE TELEVISION SPECIAL
TO PROMOTE PEACE IS GREEN INTIATIVES
January Press Conference
Slated For “Show Of Peace” Concert To Be Held April 17th In Beijing
17 Dec 2009 - A global press conference is scheduled to take
place this January in Beijing, to announce the first annual “Show Of Peace”
Concert,” an unprecedented event to be held in China on April 17th,
2010. Some of the biggest
international names in music and film will be named as performers and
participants, for what the concert’s producers are calling ‘a peace is green
awareness campaign designed to not only promote peace with each other, but to
promote peace with our planet.' It’s especially appropriate that this concert falls upon the 30th
Anniversary of the cultural exchange between the United States and China – as
it utilizes the universal language of music to convey the need for a more
peaceful and greener planet.
The Chinese People’s Association for
Friendship with Foreign Countries, the earliest and most influential NGO for
civil and urban diplomacy and international culture exchange areas after the
founding of New China, China-based non-profit Joint-US China Collaboration on
Clean Energy (JUCCCE), the United Nations’ NGO Pathways to Peace, and the Captain
Planet Foundation have all joined forces with US television and music producer
Rick Garson, President and CEO ZZYX Entertainment.
In a statement The Chinese People’s
Association for Friendship and Foreign Countries said; “We are honored to be
the host of such an amazing event. It’s a pleasure to co-operate with ZZYX Entertainment
because of their creativity and their commitment to social causes. This concert will bring to light the
need for all of us on this planet to not only commit to peace, but to commit to
our environment – two of the most important issues facing the world today. We
believe that it will bring new vigor and vitality to the Chinese people and to
other citizens of the world.”
Garson, who conceived of the idea for this
concert nearly three years ago, has mobilized a team of committed and
passionate leaders in the entertainment industry including the show’s
co-executive producer, personal manager Trudy Green (Michael Jackson, Mick
Jagger, Janet Jackson, Aerosmith, etc.) and producer Greg Sills (Live8 and Live
Earth) among others. He will establish “A Show of Peace Foundation” to
distribute funds raised through the concert and other related efforts. The Foundation’s board will include
respected experts from the fields of peace building and green initiatives.
Said Rick Garson, “The passion and attitude of
the Chinese people and the potential of this country, made me realize that this
was the right place to stage an event, as we watch the transformation of Red
China to “Green” China right before our eyes.”
Participants in the event, along with its
creative team, Green Committee, executives from the participating partner
organizations, Chinese and foreign government officials, will all be on hand at
the announcement, which is slated to take place in Beijing.
Specific details of the press conference will
be released after the New Year.
